What is LactiGo?

A plain-English explainer. What it is, what is in it, how people use it, and what it is not.

The short version

LactiGo is a clear gel you rub onto your skin, usually your legs, about 45 minutes before exercise. Its main ingredient is L-carnosine. It is made in the United States by LactiGo Inc., tested batch by batch under the Informed Sport program, and since October 2026 it ships from a warehouse in Queensland.

It is sold as a cosmetic gel. It is not a medicine. It is not a tablet, powder, or drink. You do not swallow it.

What is carnosine?

Carnosine is a small molecule made of two amino acids, beta-alanine and histidine. Your body makes it, and it is concentrated in skeletal muscle. It has been studied for decades, and you may have seen beta-alanine, one of its building blocks, sold as a sports supplement.

LactiGo's point of difference is the delivery method. Instead of swallowing carnosine or beta-alanine, you apply a gel to the skin. That is the whole idea. I do not make claims here about what it does in the body. LactiGo publishes its own research page, and the Australian rules on health claims are strict, so I leave that to them.

What is in the tube?

Two formulas exist.

Both are clear, pale yellow, quick drying, and leave no sticky residue. Both are vegan friendly. The L-carnosine is derived from corn. Neither contains sodium bicarbonate.

Who makes it?

LactiGo Inc., based in Henderson, Nevada. The company also runs The Carnosine Lab, its research and education site. Who uses it in professional sport is LactiGo's story to tell; their site does that. I keep this page to the facts I can check.

Is it tested?

Yes. LactiGo is Informed Sport certified. Every batch is tested for substances banned in sport, using ISO 17025 accredited methods. You can check the live listing at sport.wetestyoutrust.com. This matters if you compete under anti-doping rules.

Who uses it?

Mostly people who train several times a week and want something they can use before every session:

There is no age limit. LactiGo recommends parental guidance for under 18s.

How do you use it?

LactiGo's published guidance:

  1. Apply about 45 minutes before activity.
  2. Spread it like sunscreen. Cyclists use about 5 pumps per leg.
  3. If you use sunscreen, apply LactiGo about 30 minutes first.
  4. Reapply after your post-activity shower if you want to.

One 100 mL tube lasts about a month of regular use.

What it is not

If you are pregnant, nursing, have allergies, or are under medical care, talk to your provider before using any new product on your skin.

Why have I never heard of it?

Until October 2026 it shipped from the US, in US dollars, with international freight. Few Australians bought it. Now it ships from Queensland in Australian dollars, with no customs. That is why you are hearing about it now.

How do I try it without wasting money?
